Sustainability

Tanned leather waste is delivered to plants that transform it into hydrolyzed gelatin for agricultural use, a nitrogenous organic fertilizer used in both conventional and organic agriculture. This low environmental impact process allows the recovery of all the residue delivered, without generating waste.

Del Vacchio Tannery's commitment to sustainability is also reflected in its tanning process.

The company is, in fact, gradually replacing traditional chrome tanning with a green tanning process, free of heavy metals.

The tannery, which specializes in processing sheep and goat skins for clothing, footwear and leather goods, now offers three different types of tanning: chrome, vegetable and white metal free.

Photovoltaic &
Water Mixing and Dosing System

In line with its commitment to environmental sustainability, in 2010 our company created a photovoltaic system that produced 90,000 Kwh of energy in 2022, reducing CO2 emissions by 47,700 kg.

Thanks to the continuous expansion of renewable energy production facilities, our company hopes to achieve total energy autonomy in the near future.

In addition, to optimize consumption, Del Vacchio Leather Diffusion regularly updates its machinery and uses an energy-efficient lighting system.

In order to optimize the tanning and retanning process and preserve a fundamental commodity like water, Del Vacchio Tannery uses the advanced Swiss AQUAMIX mixing and dosing system. This is an automatic system that saves 20-30% of water. The first versions of this system date back to the 1970s.

Since then, it has been improved and is used all over the world, guaranteeing high reliability.
